Reader The Bride, the Glow, and the Truth.
I originally planned a different topic for this issue but as often happens, something I witnessed shifted my direction.
With summer in full swing and now coming to a close soon, I love visiting Long Island. There’s a calm there; certain pockets feel like a soft reset from the city.
One late afternoon, I was at a country club just before a wedding ceremony. It was a golden hour. As I waited for my Uber, an Escalade pulled up. Out stepped the bride, stunning, late twenties, the kind of glow you can’t fake.
And I thought: I hope she knows collagen will one day become her closest alley.
Here’s why that thought stuck and why I am starting this series: we start losing about 1% of our collagen every year starting in our 20s. By the time you hit your 30s, you could be down 15–20%. By your 40s+ 20% or more.

My Collagen Wake Up Call.
I remember turning 40 that was the age where you roll your eyes at everything and everyone. Some things you do in your 30s have to stop. You really start looking at yourself, it's real the signs of aging get real.
You start looking for all kinds of ways to stop gravity mentally the wheels are turning. The mental clock you have that tick is really loud and your starting to hear whispers.
My forehead ice-skating-rink shine..that glistening. HA! now it was… just a rink a complexion on my forehead now and then shows me a two tone I am not used to seeing.
My skincare routine has always been consistent, but suddenly, it wasn’t enough. Today I am 46 still it's not enough I want and will look for more. I can't do injections on my face, thats another topic we will discuss. I realized at 42 couldn’t rely on topical products alone. I needed to go deeper and wider feeding collagen from the inside out and supporting it in every way possible.
That’s when I doubled down:
- On rest (because skin repairs while you sleep).
- Improving and tweaking my rituals deep dive research
(No more quick fixes, going to products I used before).
- Doubled down on skin health clinical high performance (inside and out). Trust. You’re 40s and beyond. You are always thinking what should I be considering? What more can I do and what do I want to do.
I treat collagen like an investment grow it, nurture it, and watch it pay off for years. Even though I am over 25% down of collagen loss I am making up for it in many other ways. I want the same for you.

Collagen 101 | The Foundation of Your Glow.
What it is: Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body, forming the connective tissue in skin, nails, bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons. It’s made up of amino acids and accounts for 70–80% of your skin’s dry weight.
What it does for your skin:
Collagen acts as the fundamental "scaffold" for new tissue growth, supporting wound healing and tissue repair. Consider it the essential framework, like the study beams or metal frame thats supporting the healthy house or commercial property you aim to build.
Helps skin resist wrinkles and sagging.
Keeps it firm, plump, and elastic.
Why we lose it:
Natural aging about 1% per year from your 20s.
Our "Accelerators" include:
Prolonged UV exposure: SPF, though perhaps unexciting, product. Understanding its protective benefits. You can’t leave home without it.
High-sugar or nutrient-deficient diets,
Pollution,
Hormonal shifts,
A Mindset Reframe
Collagen loss is inevitable but it’s not all doom and gloom. This isn’t about “turning back time.” No. Not a Cher moment at all. I am not interested in turning back time and neither should you. It’s about owning it beautifully and working with your body’s natural processes to protect and produce what you can. In your mid 30s + 40s and beyond imagine a marathon, not sprint.

The C.P.O. Collagen Series | You're Glow’s Foundation
We’ll explore collagen from the important angle, what it is, why it matters, and how to keep it thriving as you evolve.
Here’s the roadmap:
Collagen Fundamentals (we covered this today) – What collagen is, how it works, and why it’s a lifelong ally.
Skin & Topicals – Serums, layering rituals, and at-home tools that help your skin produce and protect collagen. I want you to be inspired.
Nutrition for Collagen – Feeding your skin from within with smart, supportive foods and supplements.
Lifestyle & Recovery – Daily habits, sleep, and recovery practices that keep your collagen strong.
I am also going to mention different types of Devices. They are not the silver bullet but a great enhancement if we want fight gravity. I personally cannot justify botox or fillers for me if you can for you do you. We will explore the ones you should be inspired to consider.
Today, we’re zooming out giving you the collagen blueprint so the next Records have a foundation to build on.
Because once you understand the why, the how becomes much more powerful.
