Chief Pretty Officer | (CPO) Record |18. The TL;DR | The At-Home Spa Revolution
The world doesn't reward you for stretching into adulthood, so we're taking control of how we show up. In 2026, at-home spa devices have gone from gimmick to necessity, with 63% of consumers choosing convenience over clinic visits.
This episode breaks down the numbers: what's working, what the data actually shows, and why investing in yourself is a strategy. Part Two of the Device Series: trends reporting.

Editor's Note | Saturdays Are Non-Negotiable
Happy Valentine's Day!
I love this day, It's a day to write love letters, the small tokens that matter that make us smile!
Here's what I do know: Saturdays are mine.
That's my dedicated device and facial treatment day. Hair care, two to three devices, a three-hour mask. Non-negotiable.
It's a realization no one tells you: as you stretch into adulthood, your circle of friends often shrinks. The upside? You have more free time. You're spending less on people you've drifted from. That newly available money? It goes into myself. Into side hustles. Into things that actually serve me.
Don't get me wrong I love being social and showing up. Now I can double down on the areas in my life that can be fulfilling.
It's my observation, and I am still learning: the world doesn't care how hard you've worked. It cares how you look while you're working. Sorry, it's true. If you think it doesn't, that's a privileged mindset that won't serve you. As a woman, it matters.
The World Doesn't Reward Women for Stretching into Adulthood. Period. Last year, while I was searching for my next opportunity, I listened to a podcast featuring the former CEO of The RealReal, a woman who built a billion-dollar empire. She was smart, accomplished, and credible.
So how did she create this empire? In her interview she explained: a recruiter later told her she was "too old" for the tech industry. That she aged out of executive leadership roles. The most memorable part of that episode was the shocked reaction of both the podcast host and the former CEO of The RealReal. Despite her considerable achievements even the CEO was taken aback that the recruiter would say such a thing, showing that the awareness of her privilege had prevented her ability to be hired.
Just like that.
As a woman of color, hearing this story was thought-provoking. My interest wasn't rooted in disbelief but rather in the implications:
If this occurs even to a white woman, what does that signify for women of all different races and spaces? The issues we overlook today will inevitably become the visible realities of tomorrow.
The bias starts instantly. As soon as you're perceived as fully adult, the door shuts.
What I realized is that as women stretch into adulthood, certain truths become unavoidable:
The world does not reward a woman's journey into adulthood with the same recognition it gives a man.
Your immediate priority must be to secure your previous success, strengthen your personal ventures or significantly improve your current standing. We have not moved past old biases.
From Pandemic Necessity to 2026 Standard
In this episode, we're exploring at-home spa rituals for your face not as indulgence, but as infrastructure.
One consistent takeaway I've learned from working in both traditional and medical spas is the importance of building treatments into your at-home routine. During the pandemic, many of us discovered this by necessity. We couldn't go to the spa, so we brought the spa home.
What started as a temporary fix became a revelation: this actually works. Now we're returning to this trend, but with sharper focus. Modern devices make at-home treatments more effective and more accessible.
Don't get me wrong I still highly value visiting an esthetician for professional extractions and expert skin assessments. But the days of relying solely on monthly facials? Over.
The Data: Why At-Home Is Winning
Let me give you the statistics that prove this isn't just a trend it's a movement:
Market Validation:
• 63% of consumers now prefer at-home devices over clinic visits
• 18.5% year-over-year growth in global sales
• North America alone: 22% increase in LED device sales, 17% increase in microcurrent demand
Device Performance:
• Modern devices show 82% average global user satisfaction
• 25% higher treatment accuracy with AI-enabled tools versus non-smart devices
• 38% higher efficiency in wrinkle reduction compared to 2020 models
According to Mintel's beauty reporting, at-home treatments are one of the most significant and ongoing trends emerging this year. Not "emerging and fading." Emerging and staying.
Why? Because it works. Clinic visits cost hundreds of dollars per session, and devices pay for themselves in three to four months.
But mostly? Because we're done waiting for permission to invest in ourselves.
The Device Landscape: What's Actually Working
If you're new to this world, the options can feel overwhelming. Let me break down what's actually gaining traction in 2026 and why.
LED Therapy (46% Surge Globally)
LED devices use specific wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin and trigger biological responses.
What it does:
• Red light: Collagen stimulation, inflammation reduction
• Blue light: Acne treatment, removal of dead skin and shrinking pores
• Orange light: Boosting skin glow and hydration
• Multi-wavelength masks: Combine red, blue, and infrared for comprehensive treatment
LED is the most researched, most validated at-home technology. Clinical studies show measurable improvements in fine lines, texture, and skin tone after 8-12 weeks of consistent use.
Microcurrent (41% Growth in FDA-Approved Devices)
Microcurrent delivers low-level electrical currents that mimic your body's natural signals, stimulating muscles and boosting collagen production.
What it does:
• Instant lifting effect (visible immediately, lasts 24-48 hours)
• Long-term toning and contouring (builds over 60-90 days)
• Often described as "a workout for your face"
Hybrid/Multi-Function Devices (28% Increase)
These combine LED + microcurrent + massage into one tool.
Why they matter:
• Space-savers (one device instead of four)
• Cost-effective
• Allow you to customize treatments based on what your skin needs that day
• Popular devices: Therabody TheraFace Pro (8-in-1), Skorr Glow (6-in-1)
For most people, a quality hybrid device beats owning four separate tools you never use.
STAY WITH ME HERE COMES THE MATH
The Math: Investment vs. Indulgence
Let's talk about money. Because devices aren't cheap,
and you deserve to know if they're worth it.
Premium At-Home Devices:
• Price range: $250-$700
• Lifespan with proper care: 3-10 years
Professional Clinic Treatments:
• Single microcurrent session: $300-$800
• Fillers: $600-$1,200 per syringe
• Recommended frequency: 4-6 sessions initially, then monthly maintenance (this depends on your skin this is a baseline)
• Annual cost: $3,600-$9,600
Break-Even Point: If you were doing monthly professional treatments, a $500 device pays for itself in 3-4 months.
Cost Per Use:
• $500 device used 3x/week for 3 years = $3.20 per session
• Compare to: $400 clinic session once a month
When It's Worth It:
• You can commit to 3-5 sessions per week
• You're willing to wait 90-120 days for results
• You already invest in professional skincare
• You're taking the same research approach you would use to find a professional and applying it to finding a device
When to Skip:
• You want dramatic, immediate transformation (get injectables)
• You won't use it consistently. Seriously, when people say it doesn't work, it's because they didn't commit. Don't expect magic in one month.
• Your budget is tight (prioritize sunscreen, retinol, and bakuchio-an all natural alternative to retinol;as low-hanging fruit)
The math is simple: devices are an investment, not an expense. But only if you use them.
Devices Are Part of a Lifestyle
The most successful device users don't treat them as magic wands. They treat them as tools in a larger system.

Here's what's hot right now:
Exosome Therapy CPO Cult Fav! Get ON It!
Does it pinch yes. Beauty comes with pain feel it. Professional treatment using cellular messengers for skin repair, inspiring at-home serums with growth factors and peptides- the "next generation" after retinol and vitamin C.
GHK-Cu (Copper Peptides) CPO Cult Fav! Try It!
One of the most scientifically backed anti-aging ingredients gaining traction in 2026. GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper peptide that signals your skin to produce collagen and elastin while reducing inflammation. The result: firmer skin, reduced fine lines, and faster healing without the irritation that comes with retinol.

The takeaway: Professional treatments are finally getting more science-forward and at-home tech is catching up fast. The line between clinic-grade and at-home is blurring and that's exactly the point.

Closing Note | What Comes Next
In Part Three of the Device Series, we'll get specific:
The C.P.O. Counter: Device Edition
• CPO recommendations
• Which devices are worth the investment
• What to pair with what
Reflection Prompts | Before You Buy
• Am I ready to commit 90-120 days before judging if this works?
• What would investing in my self-image give me beyond appearance?
• Where am I already spending money that could be reallocated here?
• Have I done all the research, asked the questions that I need? Am I satisfied?
These are questions meant to inspire you. If you have more, write them down. Start again. You need mental clarity doing this. This is not medical advice.
Devices didn't erase my grief in Part One. They gave me control.
In Part Two, I'm telling you: they're not magic. They're math, disciplined and infrastructure.
In a world that doesn't reward aging, infrastructure is how you stay standing. If you're ready to build yours, stay with me.
Part Three is where we get specific.
Till the next one. Keep leading.
