The Skin
A special shout-out to all Scorpios this month! This topic was inspired not only by the Scorpions in my life but also by the creature itself, which I find fascinating.
My best friend once told me that when a scorpion is surrounded by fire, it will sting itself. That image stuck with me. How often do we do the same? When pressure builds, when we’re surrounded by heat, we turn inward and sting ourselves with old habits or thoughts that no longer serve us.
Just like us, scorpions shed to survive and evolve. Their natural cycles mirror the way we grow, protect, and renew.
Scorpions Shed Their Exoskeletons to Grow.
Fact 1: Scorpions molt multiple times in their lives each time, they shed their outer shell to make room for a stronger one. During that period, they’re soft, unprotected, and vulnerable until the new layer hardens.
C.P.O. Analogy: Like a scorpion, your skin and confidence both need to shed to strengthen. Renewal only happens when you’re brave enough to be soft for a while. Growth requires exposure before resilience returns.
Scorpions Armor Protects But Can Also Restrict
Fact 2: That tough exoskeleton shields the scorpion from predators, dehydration, and the elements but it also limits flexibility until the next molt.
C.P.O. Analogy: Our skin and our emotional armor work the same way. The routines: this is includes but not limited to our health, exercise, diet, sleep, body + hair care skincare to make up. These rituals and personas that once protected you can start to confine you if you never evolve them. Protection should never come at the cost of expansion.
Scorpions Thrive in Extremes
Fact 3: Scorpions survive both blistering heat and harsh cold. Their exoskeleton and slow metabolism protect them through environmental extremes.
C.P.O. Analogy: Skin does the same; it adapts to your environment, hormones, and stress. That’s why seasonal rituals matter. You can’t keep one ritual / routine forever your hormones, health and skin, like you, needs to evolve to thrive. This is your invitation to stretch into adulthood and adapt to your rituals from the inside and out.
As you move through adulthood, masking becomes less of a luxury and more of a necessity.
Collagen loss is inevitable, skin becomes dehydrated which means it’s time to think strategically how to boost production, lock in moisture, and adapt to cycles of weather, stress, and lifestyle.
Think of masking as your maintenance check, not an indulgence. Your future adulthood will thank you with a glow worth celebrating.
Like your wardrobe, your mask collection needs variety because every C.P.O. should have a “mask wardrobe” that includes these three essentials.
The Three Core Masks Every C.P.O. Should Own

Reflection Prompts
Before we close, take a quiet moment to reflect because masking is more than skincare; it’s self-awareness.
- Which layer of my armor am I ready to shed this season?
- What small ritual can I shift to match the environment I’m living in physically or emotionally?
- Do I use skincare to protect myself, or to connect with myself?
Closing Note | The Art Of Shedding
The scorpion doesn’t fear the shed it welcomes it.
Each molt is a reminder that growth requires vulnerability. Your glow depends on your willingness to evolve to protect when needed, to release when it’s time.
In our next Record closing out the masking series, we’ll move from concept to curation: your Mask Wardrobe Counter.
The tools, products, and even books that strengthen your skin and your self-image from the inside out.
Until then, shed what’s heavy, hydrate what’s real, and remember: resilience always glows under pressure.
Till the next one.
